Colleen Jacobson, Ph.D.

Education

Dr. Jacobson completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University and an NIMH Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Columbia University/ New York State Psychiatric Institute.  She currently serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at Iona College. Her research has been widely published in medical and psychology journals, as well as in reference and clinical handbooks. She has frequently been featured in media outlets including The Today Show, USA Today, Huffington Post, Parenttoolkit, and on HLN, a CNN network.

Dr. Colleen Jacobson is a clinical psychologist who treats adolescents through adults by utilizing cognitive behavioral and interpersonal psychotherapy, while incorporating mindfulness techniques to help her patients to truly experience their best lives. She has special expertise in depression, anxiety, suicide and self-injury, and she has worked in a variety of capacities within mental health including as a clinician, consultant, professor, researcher, and contributor to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-5.
